Experience!!

August 27, 2008

Getting a web service off ground has been one heck of an experience.  When started , I thought it would be very easy to get users to the site.. and how wrong I was.. even thought the concept is good.. even though employers understand the value in service… it is not an easy task to get them to shell out money for our service..

Getting and doing  a services project is very different than trying to monetize a web service… For a project you get paid for the development.. you just need to code the software properly.. but in case of a web service… it doesnt matter how much time, money , energy you have spent coding your app… People will pay only if they get some benefit out of it..

Now I’m much better equipped to  create  something disruptive and change the world :)

But first I need to get some money flowing… This is an interesting challenge!!

Niche job boards

December 4, 2007

Amit Ranjan talks on his blog about the ineffectiveness of big job boards like naukri and monster. We at JobYantra (no affiliation to webyantra :) ) could not agree more with him. Big job boards can provide you with quantity but they seriously fall short on the quality front. One big reason is that most of the good candidates already have jobs and they rarely visit job sites. As a result many job ads do not get the right kind of exposure.

Getting a job advertisement in front of right candidates is a challenge and this is what we are trying to achieve.

Hello World!
